MGM MIRAGE is Cited for Outstanding Corporate Philanthropy by Fundraising Professionalstitle
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MGM MIRAGE, along with its
employee-funded Voice Foundation, are recipients of the "Outstanding
Corporation/Foundation of the Year" award from the Las Vegas Chapter of the
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). The company was recognized
this week for its philanthropic contributions to help improve the quality of
life within the communities in which its employees live and work.
"MGM MIRAGE and the MGM MIRAGE Voice Foundation are being placed in the
spotlight so we can honor them and remind our community and the world that the
spirit of giving is alive and well in Southern Nevada," said Laura Fritz, Las
Vegas Chapter AFP President.
Annually, the Voice Foundation collects voluntary donations from MGM
MIRAGE employees to support charitable concerns. Last year, the Foundation
distributed $3.2 million to deserving organizations in Southern Nevada. Since
its founding in 2002, the Voice Foundation has dispersed more than $12 million
in employee donations to non-profit organizations located in the cities and
states where MGM MIRAGE operates businesses. The company underwrites all
administrative costs associated with managing and operating the Voice
Foundation, ensuring that one hundred percent of its employees contributions
benefit their intended recipients.
According to Fritz, the gaming company has had a significant impact on
corporate philanthropy in Nevada. "By founding the Voice Foundation, MGM
MIRAGE has given its employees the opportunity to participate in the greatest
service a human can provide -- a chance to change the world. With
70,000 employees giving and volunteering to help make their community a better
place to live, work and raise families, this group of individuals has taken
action to improve the community and the world in which we live," Fritz said.
In addition to the Voice Foundation, the corporation contributes to
numerous charitable and non-profit organizations to support issues in three
categories: education, childhood development and community development.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents
26,000 members in 174 chapters in the United States, Canada, Mexico and China.
It strives to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and
